Masaaki has been active in the field of ERM throughout his career and has played key roles with the Institute of Actuaries of Japan, the International Actuarial Association (President in 2018), and the CERA Treaty Board. He is currently involved with the steering group for the next International Congress of Actuaries (ICA2026), which will be held in Japan in November 2026.
Masaaki says, “It is a great honour for me to be elected as Chair of the CGA Board, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The CERA credential has truly become global, with more than 7,000 holders in over 60 countries. CERAs are trained in ERM to address all types of risks, enabling them to provide reliable management support for any company or organization in a rapidly changing socio-economic environment where risks are unpredictable. By utilizing tools such as data analytics and AI, we expect that CERAs will play an active role not only in the insurance and financial sectors but also across a wide range of industries and companies in the future.”
The CGA would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the previous Chair, Kathy Wong, for her commitment and leadership over the past three years. The CGA and CERA credential have gone from strength to strength during her tenure and are strongly placed to meet the needs of the actuarial profession in the years to come.
