CURRENT RESPONSIBILITY
Masaaki Yoshimura was elected Chair of the CERA Global Association in September 2024.
EXPERIENCE
Previously employed by Sumitomo Life Insurance Company in Tokyo for about 30 years, he accumulated a wide variety of experience in the areas of Corporate Actuarial, International Investment, and Planning and Research. In addition, he assumed the role of General Manager of Corporate Risk Management, served as an Appointed Actuary, and spent three years in the United States as Chief Representative of Sumitomo’s New York office.
He has served as General Secretary of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan (IAJ) and is currently an executive board member and Chairman of the ERM committee. He also contributed to draft a report on demutualization and to the IAJ’s Standard of Practice regarding the allocation of policyholder contribution in demutualization.
Currently, he is one of the 8 worldwide representatives of the Executive Committee of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) and previously served as deputy chairman of the Professionalism Committee. He also has experience working as a member of the Insurance Working Group of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
