Kathy Wong was appointed to serve on the CGA Treaty Board by the Society of Actuaries beginning in 2018. As a member of the SOA Board in 2004, Kathy was part of the group of actuaries that organized the development of the SOA’s Risk Management Section and the SOA’s initial inroads into ERM. Kathy led the development of the first enterprise risk management examinations offered by the organization and served on the task force that created the SOA’s original CERA credential.
Kathy has been involved with the CGA Review Panel since its inception, helping to develop the CERA syllabus and serving as an external reviewer beginning in 2009. She continues to volunteer on the SOA’s examination committees in the enterprise risk management area, as well as serving as a facilitator of professionalism and ethics courses.
Kathy’s full-time career spanned 35 years, primarily at two major insurers, Prudential (U.S.) and AXA Equitable. Her focus has been in the areas of financial reporting, valuation, and risk management. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. She graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
Now retired from full-time actuarial work, Kathy continues to provide consultant services in the areas of risk management and insurance company regulatory issues. She is heavily involved with volunteer service to the SOA, the IAA, and the American Red Cross.
Kathy was elected Chair of the CERA Global Association in September 2021 and served three terms, standing down in September 2024.
