John Manistre is a retired Canadian life insurance actuary and risk researcher.  John spent his university days studying applied mathematics and physics.  On becoming an actuary, he spent the first 20 years of his career doing traditional actuarial work such as product pricing and financial reporting  while working for a number of insurers in both Canada and the US.  During that time he taught himself financial engineering.   The second half of his career has been largely spent in the ERM space focusing on problems such as risk capital aggregation and the plethora of issues that arise when trying to implement market consistent financial reporting for a life insurer where many, if not most, of the instruments on the balance sheet are illiquid.  The Risk Adjusted Scenario Set is an idea that arose from that experience.

Over the years John has presented a number of risk related papers at Society of Actuaries’ ERM conferences.  They can be found on the SOA website.

Bozenna is an Australian Actuary specialising in Life insurance, currently responsible for Pricing and Insurance Sustainability at MLC Life Insurance.  She has more than twenty years’ experience across a variety of insurance, reinsurance and consulting roles across the Australian market. Bozenna has a deep understanding of the insurance control cycle, with expertise across all aspects of the value chain including pricing, product, strategic underwriting, claims insights, expense optimisation and risk. Bozenna was President of Actuaries Institute Australia in 2010 and has been nominated as President-Elect for the International Actuarial Association for 2024.

Peter is the senior Life Actuary at KPMG South Africa. He has wide experience in commerce and consulting in actuarial and general management roles. His key areas of experience in his career have been in general management and actuarial aspects of Life Insurance, Pension Funds and Investment Administration. Specifically, he is involved in Actuarial aspects of Life Insurance companies, Retirement fund matters and Review and calculation of IAS19 obligations. Peter is an enthusiastic and committed volunteer to the actuarial profession. He is currently a member of the IAA Executive Committee and Chair of the IAA Professionalism Committee and serves his local association, the Actuarial Society of South Africa in a number of roles and was President of ASSA in 2018-19.

Christophe Heck is Market Head L&H France at Swiss Re, Board Member of the Swiss Association of Actuaries and the Chair of the Actuarial Association of Europe’s Professionalism Committee.

Ron Hersmis is a senior Dutch actuary. For more than 35 years, he’s working in different roles for insurance companies, mainly as a reporting specialist. Ron is an experienced lecturer and often invited as moderator. He is an international representative of the Royal Actuarial Association of the Netherlands, for more than 20 years. Ron is member of the Board of Directors of the CERA Global Association since its foundation. In his capacity as chairman of the Events Committee, he is the moderator of the CERAVISION 2023.

Kathy’s full-time career spanned 35 years, primarily at two major insurers, Prudential (U.S.) and AXA Equitable.  Her focus has been in the areas of financial reporting, valuation, and risk management.  She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst.  She graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Now retired from full-time actuarial work, Kathy continues to provide consultant services in the areas of risk management and insurance company regulatory issues.  She is heavily involved with volunteer service to the SOA, the IAA, and the American Red Cross.

Kathy was elected Chair of the CERA Global Association in September 2021.
