"The CERA qualification matches exactly what I needed as an actuary who has moved into risk management."

The CERA qualification matches exactly what I needed as an actuary who has moved into risk management, and who needed to firm up some of the foundations on which many of the tools I am now using are built.

I received it when I had already taken a management position in the risk management area. I see it therefore as a confirmation that I possess the necessary skills which are required at this level, and I use it as a benchmark of what I would recommend to those in my team with a quantitative interest and aspiration in the risk management field.

My advice to someone considering studying for the qualification - take the time needed to complete it seriously, ideally in parallel to working on practical quantitative risk management subjects. I hope the many current industry challenges and rapid development of the methods leave you the time to study the subjects with the time needed.
