Bio Barry Franklin
Barry Franklin is Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Zurich’s General Insurance business in North America. As such he is responsible for execution of the Zurich Enterprise Risk Management framework, and for assisting the North American business units with adherence to Zurich’s Global Risk Policy.
Barry has over 30 years of actuarial and risk management experience in a variety of management, executive and advisory roles. He is a former Partner with Ernst & Young, served as Group Managing Director for Aon Global Risk Consulting and, prior to joining Zurich in his current role, led the Corporate ERM practice for Towers Watson in North America.
Barry is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. He recently served as VP-ERM on the CAS Executive Council and chair of the Joint Risk Management Section Council of the CAS, Society of Actuaries and Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He currently represents the CAS on the CERA Global Association Board and serves on the CAS Board of Directors, Audit and Risk Management committees and the JRMS Section Council. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Probability & Statistics from Northern Illinois University.
